AVID Program
AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
In AVID we prepare our students for a successful life, which includes success at Jimmy Carter, high school, college and future careers. Students will have the opportunity to explore careers and colleges that fit their personality, goals and interests. AVID students become experts in WICOR, WICOR stands for Writing Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading. In AVID students will be taught skills that align with WICOR and Common Core. The skills and strategies students learn will help them be successful in all of their classes. AVID students have access to tutors weekly who guide students in group tutorials, to help them in all their classes. AVID students come together to create a community of learners whose goals are to encourage each other to be the best student and person they can be.
2021 - 2022 AVID Elective Application
We are looking for self motivated, determined and hard working students to join our community of learners in the AVID elective. If this sounds like the class for you, fill out an application. Students who submit an application will go through the interview process and then students will be accepted into the class. Applications are due by February 20th, 2021.
