JCMS Registration

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!

We hope that you all had a restful summer and were able to enjoy the sunny weather and stay healthy.  This school year is starting off very differently than we all would have liked, however, we are all eager to see students faces and get back to teaching and learning regardless of whether it is online in virtual classrooms or here on campus face-to-face.  Our staff is preparing for all contingencies and following the guidance from the Department of Health (DOH) and District Leadership.   For now, students will be receiving instruction and completing work virtually and online.  Please expect a phone call from the school to schedule a “virtual” home visit from your student’s Advisory teacher.  During the virtual visit, the teacher will provide important information about how to access their virtual classes and expectations for attendance, grades and online conduct.  Virtual home visits will be scheduled for the first 3 days of school, August 12th, 13th, and 14th.  Your student will begin following their class schedule on Monday, August 17th.

Parents can support their students with online learning in the following ways:

  • Make sure that you know who your student’s teachers are, what their class schedules are and that they know how to login to all of their classes.
  • Ask your student every day to tell you something about a class or about how their day was.
  • Review agenda
  • Check our school website so that you know what is happening on campus.
  • Use your ParentVue account to check on student grades and assignments.
  • Ensure that your student has a quiet place to focus on virtual classroom instruction and complete classwork.
  • Make sure that your student logs into classes every day. Teachers will be taking attendance based on students logging on daily for virtual instruction and to complete assignments.  For all students, attendance is important.
  • If you ever have questions, please call the school.  505-833-7540.

Information about the school year expectations:

  • At JCMS students will wear uniform clothing: Docker style pants (navy, black, or Khaki), Polo shirt with collar (any color) or a JCMS T-shirt (they can be purchased in the school store). NO JEANS OF ANY COLOR CAN BE WORN. The uniform must be worn whenever students are on campus.
  • Cell phones are not allowed – cell must be turned off and out of sight during the hours of 8-3.  This expectation still stands during virtual classroom time.  We want all of the students’ attention to be focused on the lessons being presented and to make good use of their instructional time completing classwork.
  • Students will receive ID’s and lanyards (color by grade level) that they must wear while they are on campus. The first one will not have student pictures, only their names and grade.  The second ID will have the student’s picture and school information.  The school will provide the first two ID’s and a lanyard to students free of charge.  If a student loses their ID or lanyard they will be charged $5.00 for each.  The ID’s will be used for cafeteria, field trips, dances, games and activities (whenever it is appropriate per the DOH to engage in these activities once again).  No Temporary ID’s will be given to students.
